Sand3d

Some said it couldn't be done . . . others questioned why anyone would bother . . .

Behold! A 3d Falling Sand game!

Anyways, I'm still working on it.

Left Click = Add Sand
Right Click = Camera Rotation
Mouse Scroll = Zoom
Shift + Mouse = Raise and Lower Cursor
a = Zoom in
z = Zoom out
p = change sand type (Sand, Oil, Water, Fire, Glass)
l = Add Sand
s = toggles between spheres and cubes (for performance reasons)
q = exits

Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions and bugs.

I'm currently working on making liquids spread out and not pile up like sand.

It's written in C++, uses OpenGL and hopefully will be up on source forge soon. The only API I use is FreeGLUT.

Min. Req. Ran fine on a 1.6 GHz AMD with a 32Mb Nvidia card.

Cool. Each individual grain of sand has light effects.

Anyways, liquids spreading out and fire would be cool.

Ooh, this would be awesome for the wii.

NEWSFLASH! Spotzero,You now have a 3d Artist-in-training. Right now I am reading a 3DsMax 8 tutorial guide AND I happen to have a copy of the 3000$ program 3DsMax 8. I have already made My own Particle effects and also explosives. Fire will also be on my list of things to do. I can make the animations and models if you will do the proggraming.

But this is in openGL, not 3DsMax.

Nablec00, while I really appreciate your eagerness to help, it may be misplace for this project. Sand3d is just sand falling, no models or animation, just sand, beatiful cpu grinding sand. As for your own particle effects and explosives, do you mean in a 3D Studio Max scene? or like a plugin?
